JOSHUA (IZ) | 90's deep house set | Content at the Roadhouse | Friday December 4th 2009 | EXCLUSIVE!

Having someone like Joshua aka IZ over for his Manchester debut is really exciting to us all. Fabric hold him in such high regard that they fly him over on a regular basis so that he can fulfil a guest residency at the club - very few dj's have ever been awarded that honour.

He has been knocking around with absolute legends like Chez Damier, Mark Farina, Ron Trent, Derrick Carter and Cajmere for years and under his own name, the many pseudonyms or with Diz as "Iz and Diz" has released on some of the most influential and cult house music labels ever. Prescription/Balance, Guidance, Classic, Panhandle, NRK, Tweekin', OM, Seasons, Gallery, Silver Network, Aesoteric, Distance……. erm, well you get the picture.

Anyway, with all of this in mind we felt it would be a little naughty not to have a chat with Joshua and ask him to do something special for us. So, for one night only Joshua has agreed to dig deep into his vast record collection and play a special 90's house set exclusively for Content.

Expect hidden gems, stone cold classics and rare as rocking horse sh!t records with a few newies thrown in for good measure.

Music happens in trends and everything comes around again in a slightly different form. At the moment there is an awesome amount of music being produced and played that takes it's influences from the deep house of the 90's. Motor City Drum Ensemble, Dixon, Sascha Dive, The Mountain People, Slowhouse, Ame, Luciano and Villalobos all cite this era and genre as a massive influence in the sound they have crafted for themselves today, we're sure their crates reflect that too! The 90's was a fantastic time for house. It's when the genre developed from the raw and in some cases, heavily experimental sound of the 80's. It grew legs, flourished and spawned what is probably the most refined and varied assortment of music you could imagine…..not to mention it gave birth to the trillion sub-genres that, in some form or other, touch pretty much every single person today.

Make sure you're at the Roadhouse on December 4th to witness a true legend doing what he does best. Making you dance!!
