Cécille, Deep Vibes, Frankfurt

Owing as much to Ricardo Villalobos and Sven Vaeth as they do to classic American house music and especially people like Moodymann, Brother's Vibe or Mood II Swing and Kerri Chandler, Robert Dietz and Sascha Dive are two of the most prominent purveyors of the recent Rhein-Main-Neckar neo house explosion from Germany. Labels like Cecille, Oslo or Dive's very own Deep Vibes imprint have been instrumental in getting rid of the redundant so-called minimal glut. Of course, they would be the last ones to say so. But let's face it: while replacing the cold aesthetic of the stripped-to-essentials-but-gone-wrong approach with classic vocal samples, percussion orgies and organ licks, those good people have created a highly functional sound that works as well with slowed down techno records. Without getting caught up in any heated discussions about those matters, Dietz and Dive turned up at the RBMA headquarters with a bunch of records and the good-humoured will to mix them up. House, house and more...
